Sherine Abdel Rassoul

Founder & Chief Designer

Hi, I’m Sherine, the mama chicken behind the Drumstick.

I’m a Business graduate from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon where I grew up. I am a self taught graphic and product designer, and previous environmental media strategist and activist. I’m an avid supporter of protecting the environment and love to live with intention and intense purpose. I’m also a proud mother of a 6 year old earthling who is actually a big part of this space.

This company is a manifestation of my interests. I strongly believe in the individual’s power to create change, and so Drumstick is the vehicle through which I translate my power of change targeting stakeholders that can shift the status quo.

Throughout the years we’ve had beautiful teams form and dissolve, volunteers came and went, and like everything living, Drumstick is a company in constant motion.

If you’d like to work, volunteer or share with us your skills in any way, drop us a line, let us know what you’d like to add to the table, we’re always open for a fresh perspective.

Our workspace is a very big part of who we are. It is a life-size heart that pumps creativity into and out of us. It is located in Darb 17/18 bloc in Fostat, Old Cairo.
For those of you not familiar with Fostat, it is the very first capital of Ummayd Egypt in year 641.
Where we are is called “Hay El Fakhareen” which means the pottery maker’s neighbourhood, this is where people came to buy their cookware, plates, and all their kitchen pottery needs since 641.
Guess what.
They still make all pottery there up until this day.
The potters are some of the most interesting people to live with, especially if their linage was so clear so far ago on this same spot of land. They carry such an air of grounding and innate wisdom, and we are so lucky to share their air.

In 2008 Darb 17/18 planted its roots there, Darb is one of Egypt’s biggest art centres constantly hosting concerts, film screenings, art exhibitions, and countless workshops. This consequently attracted many other artists to take space in our bloc making it Cairo’s biggest hub for crafts and artists as well as Azza Fahmy Jewellery school.

Why are we telling you all this?

Because you too can come and work from here!
We offer shared working space in our studio! we have 2 closed rooms and 3 open space spots.
Our studio has A/C, internet, printer & scanner, a full kitchen a rooftop, and access to the gardens downstairs, and also you can hear all of the music concerts right from your window.

Drop us a line if you’re interested to rent space!
